About the route and the proper outfit to wear

Total length of the route: 1978 m (1642 inside the
natural gallery and 336 inside the artificial gallery);

maximum difference in height: 43 m (total difference in
height there and back: 356 m);

touring time (rests included): 2 h about;

air temperature almost even at 7.6 ° C during the year;
-
it is necessary to wear a sweater, trekking boots or, at least, rubber
sole shoes.

HOW
TO BEHAVE PROPERLY IN THE CAVE
Resolution passed by the Board of Directors of the
Park of the Apuan Alps, n°27, of July 14th 2001
During the visit of the Corchia’s Cave, including the artificial
gallery, it is forbidden:
-
to smoke;
-
to bring in animals;
-
to take photos or to film;
-
to touch stalactites, stalagmites or any carbonate concretion either
fossil or alive;
-
to remove, damage or pick up concretions, minerals and rocks;
-
to scratch or dirty with graffiti and the like, any rock, or any other
natural element and equipment in the cave;
-
to throw anything in the water or against the equipments and the natural
elements;
-
to leave the equipped routes and to climb over the barriers or the
protection parapets;
-
to drop rubbish of any kind.

In addition to what is clearly stated at the previous points, being
awaiting to know the load capacity of the Corchia’s cave system, at the end of
the monitoring activity, it is also forbidden:
-
to take any group of visitors or speleologists along the equipped stretch
of the Corchia’s cave, whenever
it is consisting of more than 50 people each.
-
to leave the lighting system on for a lapse of time superior to that
necessary for each group of visitors to pass, with the exception of the
emergency lights.
-
to leave the equipped route or to climb over the barriers and the
protective parapets, with the exception of the speleologists in need of
crossing the equipped stretch to continue in other galleries or shafts.
-
to exploit any cleaning system, suited to clean the equipment or the
concretions, containing cleansing chemicals, surface-active agents, etc.,
with the exception of
sodium hypo chlorite low concentration.

With regard to the speleologists’ behaviour in the equipped stretch of
the Corchia’s cave, in addition to what stated at the previous points, it is
also forbidden:
-
to enter the artificial gallery, if not specifically allowed in case of
transport of bulky materials, or to meet particular work reasons,
with the exception of emergency and rescue operations.
-
to clutter the route with any equipment and not to grant the passing or
the precedence to the visitors, so as to compel them to wait a long time and
to the deviate their path.

Along the unpaved road leading to the artificial entrance of the
Corchia’s cave, as well as in any area external to such entrance, it is
forbidden:
-
to go camping and to make fires in the open;
-
to produce any high-sounding emission by means of amplifiers, radios or
TV sets;
-
to carry out any advertising or commercial activity, if not expressly
authorised by the Park of the Apuan Alp;
-
the unauthorised flight of any aircraft over the Cave, with the exception
of what stated by the laws about the flight rules and regulations;
-
the access and the parking of any vehicle, with the exception of those
that are each time allowed to. Are
exceptions also the service or rescue vehicles, as well as those belonging
to the owner of buildings reachable only following such road.
However, according to the agreement made with agreement protocol and
passed with the resolution n°10 of July 16th 1998, it does not
apply neither to the vehicles owned by people in need of going along this
road for job reasons, nor to those necessary to the speleological activity
of the groups associated to the F.S.T.

The access and the parking of any vehicle along the unpaved road leading
to the Corchia’s Cave, is not forbidden during the winter closure of the karst
cave’s stretch equipped for its tourist enjoyment.
Any transgression of the prohibitions mentioned above, as well as those
stated in the article 31, paragraph 2, of the regional law of August 11th
1997, n°65, will be punished according to the administrative fines mentioned in
the article 27, paragraph 1, of the same law.
